Helpful information for players at Elmdale TC:
Tennis Attire:
Wear proper tennis attire, which allows you freedom of movement. Recommended are fairly loose around the neck and shoulders tennis tops. Tops and bottoms made of light and moisture-repelling fabrics. Apparel that includes tennis-specific features, such as shorts and skorts with ball pockets. Wear tennis socks for additional support and cushioning for your feet. Complete your look with visor or a cap to protect you from the sun, and wrist and a headband to prevent your sweat running into your hands and eyes.
Footwear:
Tennis shoes are vital when playing tennis. They are more comfortable than running shoes when moving on the tennis court and minimize the chance of injury. Specifically designed tennis shoes provide cushioning all over the foot to mirror the sport’s complex footwork and make it easier to change direction quickly, stop and start, jump, and slide. Shoes must be light and breathable, have no cleats, and have minimal sole texture to avoid deep marks on the clay court.

Tennis Etiquette:
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship; be respectful and considerate of others, maintain composure, and avoid tantrums when playing.
- Dress appropriately; wear proper tennis attire and appropriate shoes.
- Wait for the rally or point to conclude when entering, crossing, or exiting the tennis court.
- Always close the gate when entering or leaving the tennis court.
- If a ball accidentally rolls onto another court, wait for the game to conclude before retrieving it.
Junior Program and Summer Camp:
All kids must wear appropriate sports clothing, a cap, and tennis shoes. They should bring their own tennis racquet and water bottle. During tennis camp, kids will have a 15-minute break after the first hour and a half to snack and go to the washroom.
Camp Cancellations:
If a camp is canceled due to weather conditions, rain, or extreme heat, etc, the participants/parents will receive a cancellation email at least an hour before the event.
If participants do not receive an email a few hours before the start of practice, that means the classes are a GO.
Participants or parents are encouraged to call the club or contact the pro directly for further updates and information.
