Geared towards juniors aged 5-14 years of age, the program will run Monday to Friday for 8 weeks from July 5th to August 27th (sign up is for one week at a time). There will be 3 separate groups each week putting players of similar age and ability together that run for 2 hours beginning at 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm. Each groups session will last 2 hours and have a maximum of 8 players.
Details about the program from Chris:
1st hour will be on court focusing on introducing proper fundamentals or building on existing ones. It’s my goal to as quickly as possible get the kids playing a modified version of tennis depending on their age and ability. All progressive tennis balls (foam, red, orange, green dot) will be used in addition to beach balls, medicine balls and any other piece of equipment that makes learning tennis fun and easy.
2nd hour will be off court activities focusing on further emphasizing the tennis skills but in a more open environment. Off court activities will take place in Fisher Park so the majority of the activities will be on grass or gravel. Games that will be played include tennis baseball, capture the flag, relay race/obstacle course etc. Both on court and off court activities will involve throwing and catching various objects, change of direction, decision making and being introduced to proper body mechanics. A big part of this summer program will be to have the children socialize and interact in a safe environment. This has been a tough last couple of years so we need to get out for some social interaction and fun!
I am very excited to announce that Jacob Maakaroun will be running the off court programming. Jacob has worked at previous Elmdale tennis camps and brings a ton of positive energy and passion everyday.

Pickup and Drop-off
Parents dropping off their children or children coming by themselves should arrive at Elmdale Tennis Club 5 minutes before their scheduled program start time. After the program has ended, parents who are picking up the kids or kids who are leaving by themselves are welcome to head home. You are also more than welcome to enjoy a mid day beverage or freezie from the clubhouse.
I realize that people have various dietary restrictions that need to be respected. When signing up please include what the child needs to be careful with and I can send a note around to the group to make sure we are creating a safe environment for every child. I love snacks and encourage parents to send their child with extra energy. Blood sugar can drop in 2 hours so make sure your child has everything they need to get through it. This includes an ample supply of water/other forms of hydration.
Rain will happen. The program will continue. We will have tents that will be used in case of rain. There will be enough space under the tents for proper social distancing measures and ability to still run an awesome tennis program. The tents will be set up in Fisher Park.
Cancellations must be made 7 days prior to the start of camp, or a medical note must be provided. Cancellations within 7 days will receive a 50% refund.
